That's exactly right and what the article's author misses. "[M]aking statistically informed guesses about which lexical item is likely to follow another" is pretty much how humans write. Our guesses are informed since birth by a huge variety of data inputs. We have different wiring to account for a different power source and benefit from some of the data being baked into our DNA such as pain receptors giving us an aversion to extreme heat.
