It's bigger than just Tesla and GM (Score 1)

Who we (taxpayers) support - Tesla or GM - is really a way of asking a much bigger question: Do we concentrate on seeding thousands of startups, and hope for economic salvation in the form of a few wildly innovative winners? Or do we focus on improving our infrastructure by helping existing industries (not necessarily companies) make their operations and supply chains more reliable and energy efficient?
