Journal Journal: Stop spam, with spam. Make email useless. 2

Spammers make about 5 times more then most systems administrators is the spammers work only a few days a month.

Spammers charge a flat rate for units of messages sent.

Maybe we should start spamming, charge lower and lower rates until its no longer profitable to spam.

Why pay for something when someone will do it for free.

I would like spamming to increase, so that we have not 50% spam, instead maybe 99% spam (or even 99.999%). Eventualy when email is no longer useable people will start fighting it.

Minor annoyances don't get fixed as fast as major annoyances.

We should get a GPL'd spam software and spam it out to the spammers.

Set prices as $1.00 for a million addresses, continue to drop the price until its $0.02 per million.

For extra effect we should send 100 copys to every address.

Now we could start to play dirty... Start writing worms to distribute the spam.

If we could fill everyones email boxes up every day for a few months, we just might be able to stop spam.

Just a bit of... fight fire with fire idea... I might be wrong.

So, that last virus/worm helped cause the black out by causing conectivity problems on the internet. If spam is increased, the percentage of bandwidth for spam goes up, less other data is sent. If the internet because useless because of spam, what would people do?

END RANDOM RANT

I didn't think this out too much, and didn't go back and edit anything... But I think the idea is interesting.

Journal Journal: FF XI and EverQuest

I've recently been playing everquest on the PS2 again. I really started this again after reading about FF XI. One of the reasons for this is that FF XI supports 'Soloing' and 'Grouping'. I really just had to go through EQ soloing and grouping to reinforce exactly what it is that I dislike about EQ.

Soloing is when you play without a group, or just by your self. EverQuest was designed for you to group with other players. You gain XP with a multipler when in a group, so playing solo requires you to take a lot more time to get XP. I think it took me about 20 hours to get to level 10.

Grouping is when you group with other players for Quests, XP, etc. Many of the quests are designed to be played with others in a group.
Unfortunatly I've found too often that the other players are annoing, and those that you might want to play with are possibly offline... Which is another thing that annoys me, EQ encourages you to play all the time.

And FF XI which is currently in beta testing, seems to me is going to be much better. I have some expectations that I expect, such as FF having always been a good RPG. And SquareSoft is a strong developer.

And the expectations I have that I'm not sure if I will see. I don't expect to see a lot of boreing tasks such as running for 10 minutes to get anywhere. Actual story lines, like those you got with traditional RPG's. Not having to do a lot of work to get anywhere. Being able to explore, maybe without having to run around invisible.

I expect to see alot of the EQ platers online, but I'm hopeing to see some new players that don't like EQ and are looking for a different experince. I guess I'll just have to wait...

Journal Journal: Jabber

Everyone should be using jabber. Why?

AIM is AOL,
MSN is Microsoft,
YIM is Yahoo,
ICQ is umm... that one company.

All of these are centralized.

Jabber is decentralized, while its not exactly P2P, anyone can run a server, and all those servers talk together.

Infact it works like internet email, multiple servers. You can run your own, use someone elses, etc...

But what about all those other people that use AIM, MSN, ICQ etc?

Well, Jabber extends beyond just one IM, but has services that can allow you to login to all of them with just a simple jabber client.

But wait there is more, you can login to IRC through it, there are chat rooms etc.

Just go on to: http://jabber.org
Get a client, register with a server, and add me to your contact list (abest@jabber.org)
