Nintendo isn't marketing to the general High Definition audience. They're looking to capture the average joe with your average TV. People with HDTV's probably don't care too much if they spend another $60 on a cable for a High Definition Wii, and most people who will buy the Wii wouldn't ever use it, myself included. For those that do want the cables, $60 does grant an excessive profit margin.
