Although I rarely play it, Call of Cthulhu will always be my favorite. I Dm'ed a bunch of adventures for some friends of mine and I think I never had more fun. All the insanities and phobias give the game a really sick twist, I love it.

One of the characters (who managed to survive from the first adventure onwards while the rest of the morons usually killed themselves off within 1 or 2 sessions) is now living with dementophobia, a fear of going insane. Needless to say, this guy's a fruitcake who's strange habits cause Phobias in the rest of the group.

What else do we have, oh yes, another one of the characters has been killed and brought back to life in some sicko's experiment (he was practicing on the investigator to see if he could succeed before he resurrected his wife, who merrily jumped into an incinerator when she found out she had been revived to live with her abusive husband yet again). Some of the other groupmembers think there is something funny about our resurrected hero so they keep trying to do this banishing spell on him, which has, so far, not succeeded. I hope, for his sake, they never get it right because it will work :-)

Then there is always the smart one. You know them, they stop doing anything they're doing and run away the minute somebody says something about demons and the like, the bastard.

Ofcourse there's also the stupid one who opens the hatch to the attic the minute he hears strange noises there, resulting in a lot of squashed flesh and blood dripping from the ceiling. The funnest part about that was that one of the other characters had to eventually get up to the attic and wade through the blood and gore to recover a map the stupid one had in his backpack.

Another bloody moron was stupid enough to remind me he had dynamite in his backpack after starting a fire, and falling into it, whilst the group was exploring a cellar where some doctor was transferring himself into a new body to live for another half a century. I think 3 of them died in the explosion alone.

Ah well, I could go on forever but I'll stop here.

I love this game!
