Blah blah blah. So tired of this argument. So what? Things aren't priced based on how much they cost to produce. If it costs me 20 cents to make something and people are willing to pay $100 for it, I'm not going to sell it for $0.50. When I'm finished reading that ebook can it lend it to my friends? Give it away? Sell it in the secondary market? Trade it for a different book? No. I've done all of those things. The price of a new book is subsidized by the fact that it is going to be re-used and recycled. So an ebook is worth less because I cannot do any of those things. Don't even get me started on the fact that you don't actually own drmed ebooks. Here is a fun example, I bought the latest Jim Butcher Dresden files novel hardcover on amazon. Peace Talks (Dresden Files) Butcher, Jim Sold by: Amazon.com Services LLC $13.81 So $13.81 for the hardcover, okay so how much is a the kindle copy right now? $14.99. If prices are based on the cost to produce then explain that one? I read that book and then lent it to my friend who still has it, I think his wife is reading it now.

EA Editor Criticizes Command & Conquer 4 DRM 266

Command & Conquer 4's DRM hasn't garnered Electronic Arts as much bad press and fan outrage as Ubisoft's scheme, despite being very similar. Nevertheless, it's been causing problems and frustrations for some users, including EA.com's own editor-in-chief, Jeff Green. An anonymous reader points this out: "Green wrote on his Twitter account late last week: 'Booted twice — and progress lost — on my single-player C&C4 game because my DSL connection blinked. DRM fail. We need new solutions.' He continued later, 'Well. I've tried to be open-minded. But my 'net connection is finicky — and the constant disruption of my C&C4 SP game makes this unplayable. The story is fun, the gameplay is interesting and different at least — but if you suffer from shaky/unreliable DSL — you've been warned.'"

Long-Running Underwater Robot Lost At Sea 132

this_boat_is_real writes "Somewhere off the coast of Chile a pioneering underwater robot named Abe lies in a watery grave today. The Autonomous Benthic Explorer was one of the first truly independent research submersibles, being both unmanned and un-tethered to its launching ship. While on its 222nd research dive on Friday all contact with the craft was lost, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has announced."

I bought my xo for exactly the type of thing that you are asking about. It's display is really well suited for reading ebooks, it's sunlight readable and 200dpi. I get around 5 - 6 hours of reading time when I turn everything off and put the display into low power(ebook) mode. The processor in it isn't the beefiest a 433mhz amd geode, but you can browse the web with it. I think they usually go for ~$200 on ebay.
