MB WAY is the first payments app in Eurozone to use NFC on the iPhone

NecroMancer writes: MB WAY, the mobile payments app from SIBS (Sociedade Interbancária de Serviços), a consortium of several Portuguese banks and the biggest ATM and PoS operator in Portugal, has launched the first mobile payments application in the Eurozone that uses NFC on the iPhone. This is the direct result of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which compelled Apple to open up its NFC chip access to third-party payment providers in Europe.
