Journal NeMon'ess's Journal: Renaming "pro-choice" Limiting sex offenders 19
Two separate topics, they're just in the same headline.
Gov. Schwarzenegger is trying to make sex offenders an issue he can get public support from. Jason Tilley wrote a letter to the editor with an interesting note about it's effects.
If you don't want to read it, the point is that limiting sex offender from living within 2000 feet of a school or park would force most of them to move out to the suburbs and rural counties. Places that tend to vote Republican. So if the voters out there are okay with this plan...
Of more national significance is the power and connotations of words and phrases with respect to pro-choice. Perhaps a new phrase is needed to convey the importance of the issue. Additionally, just as pro-choice has been labeled pro-death by the other side while not fighting back, perhaps it is time to label them beyond being anti-abortion. Something like "advocates of forced birth."

It also means they will be more likely to stick out, since we are familiar with most faces in the area, and we can also go online to check out all the convicted offenders who live in the area.
