Comment Why not a Teams commute? (Score 1) 45

What they should have is the ability to log into a Teams meeting where you are automatically matched with people who are also quitting at this time and live near you. Just like riding the bus home and seeing your Microsoft neighbors. It's a randomly generated meeting of 3-4 people who also decided to take some virtual time after work for "the commute".
Sometimes you see the same people. Not everyone takes the bus home, though and maybe it's just 2 people.
Fun!

Comment That's why they moved to South Carolina (Score 1) 63

It was the Unions in Seattle (Snohomish County, actually) who kept the quality of product high. They negotiated this with Boeing decades ago. The executives were not in charge of hiring and firing in Washington State, the Union was. All Foremen and Supervisors were Union as well. If it cost more to maintain safety and/or quality of product, they spent the money even under direct orders from the executives to cut costs. The executives had no power at the Seattle plant as long as the Union could prove the money was spent on safety or quality. Budget cuts were all approved (or really rejected) by the Union who charged high Union dues to maintain this level of power within the company.
So they moved to an at-will State (sorry free-to-work State) to specifically gain control of the safety and quality of the workers and product.......where they cut funds. What did people think would happen? Why did we wait this long to investigate? They should have been under a microscope from the beginning.

It's about sneakers, but about 3/4 of the way through we see the setup that Adidas uses to detect emotions of sports figures when they see a shoe for the first time. It seems sports figures have trouble voicing how they honestly feel, but the face does not lie. Jeff Goldblum decided to test it. He is an actor, after all, and should be able to elicit such emotions on demand. The emotion detector did a pretty bangup job. I was floored. I would put this tech as better than a lie detector.
