Mac users have the best option available -- Debian! I bought a Powerbook Pismo a month ago and was amazed at how slick the install went. I followed the install instructions on http://people.debian.org/~branden/ibook.html (though I don't have an ibook, I figured they were close enough) and installed Debian along with OS X using no install media for Debian! The default PowerPC kernel for sid (which I dist-upgraded to) contained all of the modules I need. In fact, when I put my Airport card in and installed the wireless tools, it autoloaded my driver and all I had to do is set the ESSID and I was online with a simple ifup!

Debian rocks!
