Comment Rust's entire memory thing is BS anyways (Score 0) 162

This doesn't actually improve consumer security in any realistic scenario. If someone is stupid and downloads a trojan or a bitcoin miner it's going to fuck them up no matter what their OS is coded in. The same goes for if someone just physically takes your computer. Don't be an idiot who goes to dodgy websites or installs dodgy things and you won't get wrecked. You're far more likely to have information stolen from someone else you already gave your info to out there on the internet.

Comment I hate Rust so much (Score 1) 134

I wouldn't mind if it was just it's own thing but Rustoids insist on cramming it into anything and everything even when it breaks stuff or lacks functionality and stability compared to what it is replacing. See also the Ubuntu coreutils. Over decades they had 17 bugs ever and the Rust replacement forcibly stuffed in lacked basic functionality and was riddled with bugs.

The case where some dude was sued over using Monsanto seeds was because the dude hoarded a bunch that blew into his field and then planted an entire ass field of the stuff. It was a basic trademark case and he lost 9-0 in the SC. It wasn't a case of "evil chemical company sues poor farmer for having 3 plants"

It was a transparently obvious attempt to clamp down on the crypto industry, despite them doing nothing illegal, simply because they are politically unpopular with a certain segment at the moment. If you want to regulate them, go to Congress and pass some laws, stop trying to do all this back door BS.
