The Internet was built on ads, itâ(TM)s what paid for sites for many years. If the content publishers had stuck with decently built ads that scrolled with the page and didnâ(TM)t set your cpu on fire maybe ad blockers wouldnâ(TM)t have become so popular and we wouldnâ(TM)t be where we are now.

Iâ(TM)m all for it but itâ(TM)s going to be hilarious if this actually gets signed into law. The housing legislation had bipartisan support and significant potential impact for citizens but got rejected at the desk. If this passes is going to be an example of how completely ineffective Congress has become at passing anything with substance.

AI has been disruptive in a jobs sense but its capabilities are incredibly overblown and the true cost has been subsidized. It should be viewed through the lens of assistive tools for knowledge workers instead of replacement. Companies are pushing hard for it because a lot have taken investment capital with the inflated expectations of how AI will transform their business. This has led to a lot of mistakes and turmoil. Long term itâ(TM)s worse for a company to pay a frontier model provider rather than a person, at that point there is nothing to prevent the model providers from absorbing the businesses for all the top token spenders since the owners have outsourced the knowledge work to them anyway.

Never had the need to record a Blu-ray Disc but I watch 4k UHD discs all the time. The bit rate is just so much better from a player for both audio and video than it is for streaming, even when the provider has 4k/HDR available. Plus I have some discs like Westworld thatâ(TM)s not available for streaming anymore because of bean counters. Streaming has its conveniences but there are times when you still want to have am ownable version that doesnâ(TM)t require a network connection.

I have a feeling OpenAI is going to crash and burn unless they get a gigantic bail out (which Altman has been trying to get). They really should be allowed to fail though. So many companies are building on platforms that at this point have had the costs subsidized by investment capital. The true cost of using these services is yet to be seen.
