Submission + - Wikipedia and wokism isn under attack (msn.com)

MrBrklyn writes: https://www.msn.com/en-us/poli...

For many people who have tried to participate in Wikipedia it has been long known to be run by a select few "volunteers" who has a mangle of rules and commitees that make it impossible for regular people, or even professionals in the area of expertise, to make an impact. This has left is as a tool for publicity hounds, and an echo chanber for a small segment of deveoped activists. One thing that will never get into wikipedea is the truth of any contraversal topic, or any comments against a well fundered interest.

At one point, for example, it was decided that every biography had to has a section on ideal speculation of the homosexualy proclivities of every historical figure. Objecting to a section on Goerge Washington's, William Shaskepears, or King Alfreds sexual preferences would be relentlessly attacked.

And so it goes with many aspects of Wikipedea.

Now the conservative right is taking aim at the process. They rightfully point out that opinions and interests sway over the project and it is a distortion of any real truth.

Submission + - China's Social Work inititive used for political repression (msn.com)

MrBrklyn writes: This morning I purchased the print version of the Wall Street Journal and it had a detailed article about the Chinese Communist Party and Government use of social services and surveillance to control social malcontent under headline, "China Keeps Tabs on Troubled People". It is one the front page, right corner and continues for full coverage on page A10.

I couldn't find the article on line until I finally uncovered a changed headline for the same article..."China Ups Surveillance of Troubled People to Quell Rising Unrest". I am not sure of the cause of the headline change, but it does make me suspicious. The authors are Chun Han Wong and Shen Lu, who I am sure put their lives in jeopardy to report this and it is worthy of a front page spread on the week when China is promoting itself as a partner with Turkey, India, North Korea, Iran and Russia. The article is a must read. Despite trying to soften the edges, it details the depths of the manipulation, brain washing and surveillance that is being used to repress the population and reassert Mao's political agenda and police state.

Submission + - Rick Beato versus UMG and the Copyright Pirates of YouTube (nylxs.com)

MrBrklyn writes: Not long ago software and free speech advocates combated the music industry to listen to DVDs and digitalize music. The industry struck back with their endless lobbying and the passage of the DMCA. At the head of the class was the company that evolved into UMG, which was originally owned by the Seagram group, the boys who made their fortune selling illegal Canadian Whisky during prohibition.

Today, the artists like Rick Beato, who has a huge youtube following explaining early pop-music like the Beatles and Steely Dan. But they have been hounded by copyright pirates like UMG and now are pushing Beato off the air. See the rebellion gaining tracking as Beato has now gone on the offensive -
