I've never installed it, but when I'm handed a friend's computer that's borked, I *do* use KRD, with no network access, to scan the system. That's worked to get rid of instances of ransomware in the past (older stuff) that put up the old FBI warning banner, stuff like that. Haven't had to use it in a while, thankfully. I've never seen a free bootable rescue ISO of any of the American products. They're usually not worth spit anyhow.

Really tired of hearing about people going to the hospital for necessary medical care, like operations, and being turned away because of all the willfully unvaccinated idiots filling up the hospital demanding medical treatment RIGHT NOW. Here's an idea that's not new: Show up for treatment for covid, be ready to show your vaccination card. No card, get the hell out, we're not going to waste the time and resources on you. Heading off the whataboutism, this is people who WON'T get vaccinated, not people who can't. Been campaigning against vaccines? Try another state. People who WON'T get vaccinated are plague rats, and proud of it. How were plague rats dealt with in the Middle Ages? Let me think...

Saw this happen at Atari. Guy was made head of software (I *think* it was Alan Metzger, too many brain cells ago). Went around screwing everyone else, on layoff day he went around with the sad news, and when the last programmer was let go, he was pushed out the door with his little box of personals, and they were sitting out in the parking lot watching him lurch over to his car. I really think he didn't see that coming. Two wrongs don't make a right, but still...
