I'd rather make 11+ billion Euros having not chosen for one (OSS) or the other (proprietary) than make a few euros being an idiot and shutting out part of my market because I don't support their setup.

Thankfully not everybody cares about this Holy War of Licensing, but just wants to do business.

The fact that SAP doesn't publicly take a stand on license must creep out the 'FLOSS'-crowd because now for all purposes their opinion is ignored, they have no say and their ego can't handle that.

I prefer open source, but the client is always right...

Great!

Now a new entrance in our 64-bit OS is here with the all new, shiny Flash for Linux.

And although there is no IE there, I bet there will be a hack one of these days. Didn't anybody hack an Apple via Flash?

The beste security advisory _ever_ would be to deny interactive plugins that work without user intervention (javascript, Flash, silverlight) so that we can go back to basics: read information.

What is wrong with a text-only website?

From the Adobe site: "Create and deliver rich interactive content." Well, I am generally annoyed by the [Homer Simpson's voice]"Oh look at me, I am flashing and making sounds"[/Homer's voice] that is done by a lot of websites.

Most of the time, advertisements are presented in flash and any advertisement can be seen on a 64-bit OS too, without too much hassle, yippie!!

I have been using the internet since 1996 and there are a handfull of sites that make use of Flash to create a rich and interactive environment. The rest of the websites using flash are in my opinion made by design-over-content idiots who consider a 30-60 second message saying "loading..." a good price for seeing the latest car prices and specifications (for example).

The day webdesigners took over from people who had something to inform the world about is a sad day indeed...
