Bicycles come to mind as a pretty simple, cheap, and reliable solution.
Keep in mind America's obesity problem. I doubt most business men in New York would be willing to bike a mile in cold weather.

Lenovo is the world's third-largest PC manufacturer, behind U.S.-based Hewlett Packard Inc. and No. 2 Dell. Who knew that Lenovo was so huge, and that it's so close to troubled Dell and wobbly HP? The "developing nations" computer wars are gonna make the US computer market seem polite and nerdly in comparison.
