These are largely all anyone really needs, to "Protect" Windows. as far as Windows "Protection" is concerned.

The real tool-kit required to have is knowledge of the Microsoft SFC (System File Check) as the SFC is how you can find out which files are corrupted by malware and need to be replaced. That is the secret sauce ingredient to any good system clean-up recipe.

Also In the largest number of cases the users typically are led to unwittingly "Chose" to install malware on their system.
Either due to technical ineptitude or a total lack of awareness of their own online behaviours.

This even when A.V's tell them not to install something.
The other real trouble with A.V.'s is that the largest hole in the security equations is Web browsers server side scripts bidirectional interactions. Meaning sites average around 10 to 25 scripts, pulling everything from profiling data, and advertising or marketing propaganda, to direct control of user system functionality and even drive video game within the web browser. Some Exotic new malware (and spyware) now exploit these extensively.

This is significant since most modern exploit are web browser centric. This is the real weak point where user behaviours are socially engineered into functional obfuscated exploits. Typically via embedded scripts, mingled with Adverts and privacy busting data gathering by businesses.

The safe route for joe average is Linux, with Firefox configured with NoScript, not add blockers but an actual "Extensive" script management system that provides full visibility and granular control to the user this will then elevate their awareness to the point where visibility grants administrative access over ones own privacy and security.

The only remaining issue is what can be cleanly embedded within PHP and kept obfuscated to the users while permitting access to remote processing on visiting machines...

As for the real security issues facing us, I don’t think I ever wrote a better explanation as the one here:

- You can watch that movie more than once and you can pick when you watch it at your leasure.

This is forcing the bandwidth providers to a minimal standard of performance for bandwidth, and quality of service delivery, and it's chipping at their monopoly over content delivery since they also own the major Television broadcast services like with Rogers and Bell who are both...

All I can ear here is the local Canadian industry and the leading local bandwidht providers screaming at the top of their lungs at our government via lobbyists and those nasty smelling guys in suits who service the needs of the rich elites they call lawyers...

They are all shouting lets stop Netflix... At all cost!

Our system, is the real problem here. Corporations now have way too much control over policy. The population have no say, no voice, at least not a voice that matters to politicians...

Even when the government appears to be legislating on corporate behaviours they are simply working to ensure the feeding of the largest predators the best scraps of meat...

I really cant see why someone would be satisfied with 4 megs even if they do not know any better.

You must realise that the load pipeline is reducing the overall speed for everyone else further up simply because the latent load takes forever to move foreward, while artificially slowed down, and it further forces others to queu their data longer until full bandwidth is restored thus effectively slowing them down as well...

The faster you move everything the faster everything gets done!

Submission + - Watch This Inventor Survive a Fireworks Blast in a Metal Suit (dice.com)

Nerval's Lobster writes: Labor Day is nigh, and with it the official end of summer. It’s time to pack away the umbrellas and beach towels, and perhaps spend a few minutes flipping through photos of all the fun times you had over the past couple months: the grilling, the trips, the fireworks oh yes, the fireworks Chances are pretty good that you’ve set off more than a few fireworks in your time. But Colin Furze, the British inventor and YouTube celebrity who once co-hosted Sky1’s Gadget Geeks? Well, he puts everybody’s love of fireworks to shame. He loves fireworks so much, in fact, that he built a giant metal suit so he could stand in the middle of an epic pyrotechnic display. No matter how good your own engineering skills (or strong your courage), it's inadvisable to try this at home. But it's sure fun to watch.
