I don't agree to the first point of yours - I might like NOT to be visited by my manager once a task is assigned, but some one else might find it being ignored. Every person is unique, though they have some generic characteristics. But, it is usually a safenet that might (appear to) work initially. But, in the long run, it needs refining. I like point - 2. I realized it one fine day during a meeting.
