The UI is just fine for me. If dated means it doesn't do what Windows and MacOS does and start borking the UI, then that is great. I do like the addition of pinning windows from different applications together as tabs, using the yellow tab. If it weren't for various web browser issues and not-great network drive support, I would have no issues using Haiku as a daily driver OS. I am not familiar with the inner workings of OpenBFS, but it is backward and forward compatible with BeOS 5.0.3. I normally use the MBR booting method of Haiku, but when I figured out the more complicated EFI method, it wasn't too bad. Some machines aren't as simple. I dual-boot Haiku and BeOS on some systems, and use Gobe Productive on both for most of my word processing needs. I had no trouble installing it. Good luck making that work.

It's not just the taskbar. That in itself is a time wasting change. Right click context menus need registers changes to make useable. Printing dialogs are worse and buggy. (Default printer settings not respected). Settings moved, hidden, and redirected. File explorer features removed, moved, or hidden behind registry changes. Companies put up with it because everyone just *needs* windows or *needs* office, despite the fact that windows doesn't do anything special, and office tasks can be accomplished by open-source and free options just as easily. Any employee or vendor requiring windows or office should be banned from society.

Absolutely. Super fast. Best user interface since Apple has been sabotaging theirs. For web browsing and word/spreadsheet processing use it's decent, except for printer setup. Better hardware support and some more software would be nice, but Haiku is quite amazing especially considering their budget. If I need to do actual work that Haiku doesn't support I'll use OS X.
