well, every piece of the system is pretty cheap to replace except the controller, and that was only $250... i'm using a fit-pc2 for signal processing and controlling with custom software... but everything else is just wiring, cheap switches and cheap servos powered by a 12v arcade cabinet supply. the physical mirrors for the laser cost more than everything except the controller, and everything can be replaced with parts available from many different stores in the area for next to nothing.

i could completely replace everything 20 times over for the cost of a commercial solution, and everything has been working without fail for almost 3 years now... and considering some of the servers were ripped out of rc cars i've had for over 10 years, i'm confident nothing is near failure.
