During my national service (defence forces, rangers) I would start seeing shit in the dark on my watch. We'd been up a few days, a 5min nap here or there. We were supposed to stay on the move and undetected and there were a few companies in the area trying to find us. It is bizarre to stare in to your watch sector and see guys run from behind trees and rocks and stand hiding behind the next tree. That tree he was hiding behind was about an inch or 2 thick, but it made perfect sense. That kept happening all night for a few nights. Luckily we were found and we all got to crash.
