Here is my improved version with green headline bars (as wished by the commander), and a rich header.

I had to add the grey menu as a green only header was colliding with the green bars.
But actually I like the horizontal menu a lot it's simple and it gives good orientation.
Stubborn Information Designer as I am I still believe the green titles on white ground (as in my previous sketches) work better than those green bars. See my forst sketch here:

There is a nurdy charm to the green bars though. And nurdy matters, doesn't it.
Note the interpretation I gave to the often overused /. thing by changing the interpunctuation on "Stuff for nurds/Stuff that matters."
Also, I used a square . because the coliseo font comes with a square dot and not a round one. For good typographic reasons.
