Haaaaaaa. I can't believe they're actually doing this!! Honestly, I'm sold. If the new system for loot is actually any good at all, I may actually start playing again. Hoping they give us the option to at least try out the gamepad configuration they made for consoles too, but that might be a stretch... Anyway, really an overall good announcement. Guess Microsoft isn't the only one who can do 180s these days. :P

Does it? I've been using it since the project began, and I don't know about an auto-update... that certainly isn't a feature in the linux builds, to my knowledge. What OS are you using? I can ask the devs about it... or you could bring it up on the google code page, yourself. The devs are generally reasonable, and perhaps it's something that can be changed/made an option. They've been very open to ideas in the past.

Ha! Yeah, I remember having a similar experience as I initially wrestled with Amarok. I also remember having to jump through a lot of hoops to get it running as the classic code aged (post 2.x), and I could eventually no longer get it running properly in newer ubuntu releases. Suffice it to say, Clementine would not give you either issue, were you to ever give it a try. :) Certainly worth thinking about, if you did want a library player. VLC is a hell of a program, though! I use it for all my video needs.

I'm a huuuuuuuuge fan of Terry Pratchett's work... you could really start anywhere in his Discworld series and be smiling in minutes. Vonnegut is another favorite of mine, as well as Douglas Adams. Oh, and Dave Barry has some incredible collections of laugh-inducing work, too... I'm a big fan of humorous works, if it isn't obvious. :) I also like Neil Gaiman (though I enjoyed his work in the Sandman comics the most), and I'm now starting in on Game of Thrones, which is looking like it will occupy a welcome spot on my kindle. Hope my list inspires someone to pick up a good book, whatever the format!

I really loved using Amarok back in the day, before the big UI revamp in the 2.x releases... this unfortunately seems like it hasn't evolved yet into something I'd like to use. I hope that it will find a lot of happy users, as the team is very dedicated, but I'll be sticking with Clementine over here. It's an Amarok 1.4 fork that's been the product of a lot of time, effort and love, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality library-based player. Still cross-platform, too! They all said I was crazy to wait for a linux version of Braid. CRAZY! ME!

Well, not that far-fetched. Still, this is the reason I bought the bundle. I'm really pumped to finally enjoy Braid to the fullest, even if it does mean resorting to joy2key for optimal playing.

The relevant bit starts at 43:55. Basically, they think that a Linux version would mean it would have to be open source, which obviously it doesn't. To quote one of the developers: "Linux can fuck off as far as I'm concerned." Gee, thanks. I don't mind if you're not going to bother making a port to Linux, but to not even bother to understand what people are asking and instead resorting to profanity shows these guys are a bunch of closed-minded dicks.

My first post! Please be gentle.

It looks like that podcast took place almost a year ago... as of "about 12 hours ago" on twitter it was twoth that a linux version is in the cards for us: http://twitter.com/SuperMeatBoy/status/10377369512583168 I'd imagine the world of linux was either made more clear to them, or they were simply being inflammatory previously as a joke. Their reaction to the PETA thing would indicate the latter, I'd say. Hopefully you're not completely soured on the game, it really is something else (the only reason I restart into Windows). It'll probably be a while before the port happens, as there's only one programmer between the two of them, but probably early next year we'll have some fresh native meat to play with... what?
