Comment iPhone 4 = My FIRST and LAST Apple Product (Score 0) 471

Apple does to much to force you to constantly point in their direction. The fact that Apple puts syncing downloaded apps ahead of syncing Outlook contacts, and syncing some crappy unneeded app can hang your phone and iTunes for any amount of time shows me that they are not concerned with me as a user. The iPhone 4 is my FIRST and now LAST Apple product. Period. I'm not even going to go down the patent road, and the fact all apple products are derived from other sources of inspiration, such as 60's Braun products, http://gizmodo.com/343641/1960s-braun-products-hold-the-secrets-to-apples-future.

This is a compelling argument, can you expand on it and provide some of the details? I have always thought of CNC milling machines to be unapproachable expensive once they are more than 3 axis, and have parts that need to be replaced and calibrated frequently.

Yes and currently using the CE version. It is native ZFS version 15 due to the fact that it is running on OpenSolaris. I chose Nexentastor CE for this reason. Excellent performance, great GUI, available CLI and access to the underlying file system with a few commands. Run the 64-bit version, as it chokes in 32-bit. The HCL is small, you will have to spend time reading the OpenSolaris HCL. It took me a few tries to get the hardware right, MB, CPU, memory, JBOD controllers. I am glad I went through the trouble, I learned a lot and most importantly got away from HW RAID which is inferior in performance, has no dedupe, and does not detect bitrot.

How true and insightful. I had the pleasure of working with Steve Jobs at Nextstep as a contractor doing driver development for clients. While I have moved onto computer networking, the perspectives which I have gained have enabled me to start many ventures. It is very hard to start any one of them without referencing the Steve Jobs way of thinking and being. The embodiment of thought from the perspective of others leads to his ability to judge markets and as a predictor of the future.

Despite my fascination with Steve, I have not been an Apple user, as I am a practical network geek which until very recently screamed for the most part “Windows PC”.

The other day I picked up a tablet for my wife as a surprise gift. The gravity of the iPad 2 is undeniable, for it’s critical mass of applications, ease of use and so-on enabled me to pay double what the competition goes for. It makes sense at this time, and I have become well-off enough to be that “rich guy with the 3rd computer”. Fortunately it is all relative, and I was able to enter this market at a price that is approachable, and the value is realized in usability.

Steve is rich because he knew he could win me over at some point, and it was up to me to reach that point. We collided in the retail sector, and it was he who knew it all along, while I did not. Stil, thank you Steve ;-)
