This story scares me for two reasons... 1. As more of these companies respond to this merger, creating "mega-companies" of their own, consumers are going to have less and less of a choice in the products that they purchase. And as we all know (or should know) this is a very bad thing, as lack of choice soon becomes lack of freedom in the market place. Example, three major retail chains merge and open a "Super-Mega-Hyper Store" in your area. Now, John Smith had a small reatil business in this same area... who do you think is going to win? With thier huge distribution network, and the huge amount of cash comming into thier new company (allowing them to cut prices) I doubt that its going to be John Smith. 2.As a subscriber to Time Warner I am scared about what this new company AOL Time Warner (now THERE'S a creative name for a company) plans to do with cable modem service. Will it be "Hey ya'll, come here and get full cable, and access to the internet... but you have to use AOL." Oh well, I guess that I will have to wait and see.
