I am a software developer that works remotely for an aerospace company. I live in a southern state, out in the country. I fall into the rare category of neither having access to fiber optic internet, nor being in a Starlink coverage area. I am also nestled in the hills, with very spotty cell service. This rules out AT&T and other companies that offer cellular-based internet service. So I am stuck using the old, twisted-pair DSL connection offered by the local telephone company. And I actually pay for two internet lines in order to spread out the bandwidth usage among my household of 5. The fiber optic service offered in this region cost less than half of what I pay each month - if only it was available in my area. My only other option is satellite (Wild Blue, HughesNet, etc.) which I've tried, but it loses connection during storms or high winds - and it wasn't any faster than what I have now anyway. So, I'm just throwing this out there for all the folks that think the U.S. in 2023 has the high-speed internet thing completely handled.
