People have forgotten the funny part about HAL,
the name came from the letters in front of each letter in IBM - and if you were around in the 70's and 80's you would have heard jokes about how it'd have to be an IBM to 'go crazy' - at least that's what all the DEC fans would say...
Note: they didn't call it a VAX or a PDP....
