Comment Re:Here are the actual recommendations (Score 1) 47

I used to like the band RUSH. Then Q107 (Toronto radio station) super over played RUSH because of these Canadian content rules. Now I can't stand RUSH. 95/100 people here in Canada HATE Canadian content rules. Canadian HBO SUCKS!!!! Canadian content rules exists because of our subpar music and film industry. Canadian content rules just "protect" an industry that should already be dead / or for a free open market to decide. The internet (was) saving us from this Canadian Garbage.

Comment mostly device and SoC drivers (Score 2) 87

I suspect it is mostly device and SoC drivers that are the different. We (a maker of a streaming audio player) always struggle between using mainline and NXP's kernels. We just don't understand why NXP won't directly contribute to the mainline kernel. I suspect it is an issue of "we (SoC vendor) don't like to do it your way" ( the mainline way ). We are migration to imx8, but the mainline kernel lacks a lot of features for the imx8. It is a pain to use NXP's imx8 kernel because NXP's kernel is old doesn't support the latest version of the wifi driver we want to use. The best for society is when SoC vendors directly support the mainline kernel, then all new technology gets merged properly.

Comment c++ across all platforms (Score 1) 173

I make apps, using Qt, for Desktop (Win, Mac & Linux), Android and iOS. Having the same source code (which happens to be c++) across all platforms allows me to master one tool kit and spend time make more apps instead of learning a new language every time Apply or Google feels like it.
