Submission + - Color of light, not intensity, responsible for maintaining biological clock (gizmodo.com) 1

MakeItGlow writes: Light that simulates that changing sun, like Sunn (Kickstarter [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sunn/sunn-lights-sync-with-the-rhythm-of-the-sun]) and Lumious (Indiegogo [https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lumious]), just got a nod of credibility. A new study by researchers from the University of California, Santa Cruz, demonstrates that mice, at least, use the color of light to set their body clock. The researchers investigated whether color signals from the eyes wound up in the suprachiasmatic nucleus—the part of the brain in vertebrates that keeps time using electrical and chemical signals.
