Don't limit yourself to desktop stuff. I actually ran Proxmox VE on an old Sandy Bridge laptop for a year. I didn't lean on it very hard, but it made a decent admin node, provided a quorum vote, and since the battery was still good, it had it's own UPS.

I still run Proxmox on an old I7 2600QM (I think) laptop. Does what I need it to do. The battery even works as a 10-15 min UPS.

Here in Canada we got rid of paper $1 bills in favour of coins. The main difference is the govt took the $1 bills out of circulation, so people had no choice but to switch. I remember well people refusing to use the $1 coin, and the $2 coin. Then even more people refusing to use the new(ish) plastic money. Each time they eventually just had no choice. You don't even need to take them out of circulation, just stop making $1 bills, and they will disappear just from wearing out.
Personally, I rather like being able to reach into my pocket and find that I have $10 - $20 in my pocket. I bought all the parts for my highend gaming PC entirely with coins. :)

So now instead of averaging out, you're actually paying an average of 2-3c more per item.

No. Just no. The amount of effort to do this is not worth the few bucks a day it might gain a VERY busy store. Plus if you get caught doing it, your screwed. How do I know? Because I live in Canada where we got rid of the penny years ago.

What this means for Linux users is that decent hardware which used to run Windows 10 will suddenly become a lot cheaper, as folks who would have upgraded to Windows 11 will instead be buying a new computer and throwing their older hardware away.

I just "disposed of" 2 desktops and a laptop from work. None of them will run Win11. (I have permission, and drives were removed and destroyed before I got them.) With a cheap new SSD all 3 run Linux amazingly. One of the Desktops will become my new NAS, and the other is going into my friends HAM radio setup as part of his APRS setup. Not sure what I will do with the laptop. Maybe garage computer.

Thanks Microsoft.

I find Evolution is a better email/calendar program on Linux Mint.

PRoblem is, outlook/exchange has advanced calendaring options that the Linux ecosystem has yet to either replicate or interact with. In group settings, if soem people are using exchange/Outlook, even if Linux users could interact on a basic fashion with exachange, they would be at a disadvantage....

the email part is the easy part, the calendaring is what keeps people hooked.

The person I was replying too says they are using Google, and Evolution works better with Google email/calendar than Outlook does.
