They should rather (or at the same time) lobby about the monopolists having apps exclusive for "security". What is a LibrePhone worth if your bank needs to tell you that they cannot support it because it is not closed as iOS or Stock Android.

For their mission it would be a better start to save free Android by lobbying against apps not running on rooted phones, which also paves the way to have apps running on the LibrePhone instead of calling it too insecure because the user has root privileges.

Don't forget about the digital ID laws which will make any open-source OS illegal since they can't force them to scan your ID to connect to the Internet...

Comment Wii U ports are a slap in the face (Score 1) 43

Nintendo porting Wii U games to Switch was good for business but it's a slap in the face for everyone who bought the Wii U in the first place. First of all because every Nintendo console had its own library of exclusives that you couldn't get even in another Nintendo console for years. Wii U is the first case of a Nintendo console that had almost its entire library migrated to its successor. And on top of that if you bought the Wii U not only you got little to no actual exclusives but you also have lots of missing content on every game because Nintendo pulled a Street Fighter with almost every port so you have to buy the same game twice if you want the complete game everyone else gets. And its not just minor updates but substantial DLC locked to the Switch port. After how Nintendo backstabbed everyone who bought the Wii U they should be boycotted out of the console biz like Sega. Sega CD, 32X and Saturn were all much better than Wii U.

Comment Why not fund Linux on phones? (Score 1) 139

If you are going to fund Linux development why not fund drivers to make mainline Linux work on Android phones so you can update the OS and stop sending phones with working hardware to a landfill? You can buy a PC instead of a Mac but there are no phones that can run mainline Linux as a daily driver.
