New observations made with instruments aboard Japan's Hinode satellite reveal the culprit to be nanoflares. Nanoflares are small, sudden bursts of heat and energy. 'They occur within tiny strands that are bundled together to form a magnetic tube called a coronal loop,' says astrophysicist James Klimchuk. Coronal loops are the fundamental building blocks of the thin, translucent gas known as the sun's corona. The discovery that nanoflares play an important and perhaps dominant role in coronal heating paves the way to understanding how the sun affects Earth and its atmosphere."

I had basically the same experiences, back in the mid 70s in the ever so redneck Pymatuning school district in eastern Ohio as I was the daily punching bag for the school's only African-America student. I still remember his name. And I still recall that the faculty and staff never did a thing to help me, and seemed to enjoy seeing me terrorized on a daily basis.
As for the perverts in that school who thought it was acceptable to strip search a 13 year old girl, I'll call you for what you are... pedophiles.
