I agree, I'm a big linux fan (use it on a lot of servers) but the font rendering in especially in Firefox or chromium just do not look as good as cleartype on windows.
I've tested many distributions (fedora, ubuntu, mint opensuse) installed truetype fonts from windows, installed different freetype versions (freeworld or infinality) played with antialias hinting, subpixel rendering even compiled my own versions of firefox. The fonts still look fuzzy compared to windows.
This is definitely the biggest single reason keeping windows on the desktop.
Any hints for making fonts especially in Firefox are welcome since I would love to ditch windows.
