Most IT professionals are too independant minded to join a large faceless union.
I don't believe many would be willing to accept a Salary based on a union opinion of what you should make.
It isn't easy being the parent of a six-year-old. However, it's a pretty small price to pay for having somebody around the house who understands computers.
