I hate this kind of post, if only for one line.

"The majority of computer users do not have the expertise to even install linux, much less maintain it."

The majority of computer users (the mensch) can't do this to windows either. That is the problem. A computer is a tool, not a device. That's an important distinction. The mensch don't use windows to it's potential. Because they don't know how, you have to learn to use a tool.

It should not be the goal of the computer industry, especially open source, to strive to ease of use. We should strive toward ease of education.
