Submission + - SPAM: 'Ultra-Processed' Junk Food Linked to Advanced Ageing at Cellular Level,

schwit1 writes: People who eat a lot of industrially processed junk food are more likely to exhibit a change in their chromosomes linked to ageing, according to research presented Tuesday at an online medical conference.

Three or more servings of so-called "ultra-processed food" per day doubled the odds that strands of DNA and proteins called telomeres, found on the end of chromosomes, would be shorter compared to people who rarely consumed such foods, scientists reported at the European and International Conference on Obesity.

Short telomeres are a marker of biological ageing at the cellular level, and the study suggests that diet is a factor in driving the cells to age faster.

Submission + - Best Open Source CRM/ERP System for Small Business? (wikipedia.org)

An anonymous reader writes: Recently one of my coworkers has left for good and i had to take over most of his responsibilities, including the maintainance and development of a homegrown CRM/ERP system. The system has evolved over more than a decade under the hands of at least four different developers and is based on Microsoft Access. Since i have been assigned my additional job role almost no day passes without some user yelling for help because some part of the software is failing in strange and unpredictable ways or some of the entered data has to be corrected manually in some obscure table in one of several database files. Without any exaggeration, some of the Visual Basic source code would be sufficient for several stories on the daily wtf and could make a grown man cry, or vomit, or both.

Instead of spending further hours on optimizing this software i would rather like to start from scratch with some existing open-source CRM/ERP system that can be adapted to my companies needs. So far i have looked at and tested several CRM systems including SugarCRM, vtiger, Feng Office (formerly known as opengoo), Zurmo and Fat Free CRM. Feng Office and Fat Free CRM look really nice and easy to use, the other ones could take a bit less bloat but are fine nevertheless. What software would you choose?
