Submission + - Steam DRM

Lulfas writes: Steam is implementing a new DRM solution that, according to them, removes all DRM. Called Computer Executable Generation (CEG), this system creates a unique copy of the game when it is purchased through Steam, essentially using a 100% unique keygen system. It will be installable on any system, but only able to played by 1 person at a time (hooked into the correct Steam account, of course). Would this be enough to satisfy you while at the same time giving the publishing companies what they require? (Note, this is a GDC release. Don't think there is a real link yet. This is the only one I see.) http://kotaku.com/5182197/new-steamworks-feature-makes-drm-obsolete

Submission + - Worlds.com sues NCSoft over MMO-Patent

Lulfas writes: Worlds.com today sued NCSoft over a patent filed in 2000 (granted this February) over its patent on scalable virtual world (can be found http://www.google.com/patents?id=wv5-AAAAEBAJ&dq=7,181,690). This is a very broad base patent, and there is no reason to expect they will only sue NCSoft, when they should be able to use the same patent against other companies. Should something like this be patentable and enforceable so long after the fact? Article is here: http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2008/12/worldscom-files-suit-against-ncsoft.html
