My Happy Song List (Great Concept Daoine)

Comments Filter:
  • Wow, thats quite a list. Theres a level of incongruity to seeing a Superchic(k) song on the same list as an Eminem song... Of course, no more so than a Superchic(k) song during National Lampoon's Van Wilder.
  • Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan
    That Smell by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Light my Fire by The Doors
    Hotel California by The Eagles
    Bad Company by Bad Company
Mrs. Robinson By Simon and Garfunkel
Ohio by CNSY (Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young)
    Woodstock by CNSY
    Pinball Wizard by The Who
Broken Arrow by Neil Young with Buffalo Springfield as the backup band
For What it's Worth by Buffalo Springfield
Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull

    • Right on! I completely forgot Mrs. Robinson... but I prefer the Lemonheads cover. Also, I forgot about Wooden Ships by CSNY, and Pinball Wizard! And although Light my Fire isn't my cup of tea, Break on Through is, and then not Hotel California but Take it Easy! And of course! Thick as a brick, all 60 minutes of it!
  • OutKast: ...Back of the Bus...

Do you mean "Rosa Parks"? "Ah, hah/Hush that fuss/Everybody move to the back of the bus/Do you want to slump and bump with us?/We the type of people makin' the club get crunk"
  • probably topping my list is aphex twin's tune, acrid avid jam shred. it is so beautiful. closely following are many they might be giants tunes. fantastic plastic machine is pretty happy, too.

music in general makes me happy, at least music that i like. that's mostly electronic things, from orbital to vnv nation to haujobb to kmfdm to skinny puppy (and many others). but i enjoy rock and punk from the pixies to the jesus lizard. in classical i like the romantic period, particularly liszt and chopin and their piano works. but i like others, too.

but who am i kidding. i'm not as diverse as i make it sound. 90% of the time i pick electronic stuff.
  • Hmmm. Happy songs... I guess songs that just put that bounce in your step, right? I guess I have a few:

    Down, Lifer
    Corrosion of Conformity, Albatross
Iggy Pop, Lust for Life (although I don't understand how people think this is a "light" song since he's talking about celebrity excess)
    Beastie Boys, Sabotage
    R.L. Burnside, Snakedrive
Depeche Mode, Never Let Me Down Again
    Kool Keith, Living Astro
    Ol Dirty Bastard, Shimmy-Shimmy Ya
Lyrics Born w/ Poets of Rhythm, I Changed My Mind
    Busta Rhymes, Woo-hah
the Rolling Stones, Under My Thumb
Sam & Dave, Hold On I'm Comin'
    Outkast, BOB
    Aphex Twin, Digeridoo
    King Kong, Trouble Again

I guess that's it. I'm usually not into happy songs. Things that get my venom up I enjoy more. Eh. Or maybe I can't think of any.
    • Yeah, I meant Rosa Parks. Wow. I completely forgot about Sabotage and Lust for Life. There's also another song off the Trainspotting soundtrack that I like... I don't remember who it is... Mile high or something.
      • Mile End by Pulp.

"... Now were living in the sky. I never though I'd live so high. Just like heaven if it didn't look like hell. The lift is always full of piss. the fithfloor landing smells of it. Not just on friday every single other day. Then all kids come out tonight. They kick a ball and have a fight and maybe shoot somebody if they lose at pool. ooh it's old and thats alright yes it's mile end.
  • Interesting that he makes your list, but I will agree "Without Me" is a great song. It's the funniest thing he's written so far. I find that the songs most likely to make my Happy List are those that are silly/amusing- like "Peaches" by Presidents of the USA or "Istanbul, not Constantinople" by everybody's favorite band o' silliness, They Might Be Giants.
  • I'm happy enough by myself.

Massive Attack: Karmacoma, Eurochild, Better Things, Inerta creeps, Disolved girl, Angel, Lately, or anything by them really.
WayOutWest: Mindcircus, UB Devoid, Call me, The Fall.
Tricky: Feed me, Piano, Hot Like a Sauna, Black Coffee.

As far as happy songs go currently I just can't stop listening to "Get down" by The Jungle Brothers.

Thanks for posting to my journal Spekkio.

Is "Softer To Me" the really good one that we like... track 15 or something? Oh! And where did you get Lotrel? I forgot all about the Echoing Green and Delirious! Oof, time to edit again...
