I am American, and for the life of me I don't where we got the notion that anything I fell like doing is an inalienable right. Guess what I have a right to die of old age, and the nut case driving the eighteen wheeler at 75 mph mere inched from tail while flipping through a face page page is taking away that right. Lets stop acting like children and realize certain things are no brainers and shouldn't require a discussion. Like giving a two year a bowie knife for christmas (unless he lives in the outback).

I would rather deal with getting/paying a ticket than deal with doctor bills/funeral costs.

There is no concept of customer satisfaction when it comes to mobile users. One, we are never satisfied. Two, the carriers don't care even if we were.

My wife lost WIFI when she upgraded to 1.6. The reason: it doesn't play well with wpa2, the fix: either use WEP or a 8 char pass-phrase. Neither of which is acceptable to me, so she doesn't get to play spades on line anymore....

I upgraded to a Motorola Cliq last December, we are still on 1.5. Tried to root it, performance started to suck so I went backwards. The have next quarter since then. I think the problem is their idiot developers cant get Blur to work on the later releases.

The Android developers group needs to set some guidelines so each carrier doesn't go off and do their own thing and keep the market all fragmented. Open source OS's are a great thing, except when fragmentation leads to stagnation. This is like the early days of Linux with incompatible code bases flying all over the place and you had to compile your kernel just to be safe.

Android is very much a success if you exclude all of the Fan Boys, who are more concerned with pummeling the Iphone rather than having a useful open source Device. Yeah there are some issues with fragmentation, app speed and so on, but at the end of the day, any one that has bought the phone to be a PHONE and/or PDA will generally be satisfied. Not everyone needs to multitask 5 apps, in super bright mode while using HDMI, bluetooth, wifi and voice dialing. Yes I would love to have the android 2.2 on my cliq already, but is my life about to end because i can't use flash? (actually my life might end if am forced to use it....)

oh...dont get me started on carrier greed......

Your an asshole, the Koran says no such thing. If you are going asinine statements at least base it on current propaganda and foolishness. Lets not lose sight of the fact that religious zealots exist in ALL religions. Did you forget the crusades? Sounds like that was a form of JIHAD, if you ask me. Nazi's used religion and beliefs to go to war against Hebrews. Shit the Hebrews used religion to go to war against themselves (yes, Jesus was a born Jewish, so yes they had a problem with themselves!).

I don't know if you ever met true fundamentalist Muslims, they are nothing like what is portrayed in the media. If most people that claim to be Muslims, or even claim to be of other religions followed the true path, this world would be a much better place. Too bad most religious zealots usually find one aspect of the "Bible/Koran/Torah/etc" , twist it out of context and off they go.....

Basing your opinions on propaganda or public furor is just plain stupid. If your not going to read the Koran, at least read up on the Koran or anything for that manner before talking out your ass.

Actually...that whole google password swipe idea is stupid, of course you figure it out from the smudge, I figured my sons out by watching him from across the room.

The problem with it is that the endpoints have to intersect a number ( 1 of 9) which is like, what a 1-bit hash key????
There are some simple ways to fix this:

a) press the numbers like a keypad and not swipe, still breakable but a little harder

b) remove the numbers and image the swipe, allow the swipe to be random so it doesn't rely on fixed endpoints, still breakable but a little harder

c) increase the endpoints by adding symbols and the alpha keys, much harder to break, much harder on the end user to remember
any of these would be better than some after the fact 'screen wiping'.

Wake up...this is what the capitalism equates to in current society. UNDERSTAND, I am not a fan of what capitalism has come to mean but it is what it is. Anything else starts to court with a socialist society which will turn out far worse. We as humans have not matured enough in the sociology of living in a truly free society. Free meaning free-thinking where everyone contributes to the community as a whole and the community protects and supports each individual. We still hold onto the value of owning objects as the representation of who we are. A billionaire is no better or worse than a 400-billionaire, yet we glorify the 400-billionaire as being more successful. Greed is a harsh word to use here, but its what our capitalist system seems to have embraced. When I learned about capitalism in economics, I came away believing in the concept that the people should be able to own and control their society equally within the embrace of the government but without the control/ownership of said government. By today's standards it has come to mean control and ownership by individuals, and he who can amass the most wins. essentially, transferring governmental control to the individual with the biggest nuts. Trading in a government for a king. Capitalism, at its best, should mitigate the gray area between socialism and fascism, but fails to do so.
