Being the pedant that I am I'd like to point out that Alanis's song is actually ironic. The play is on the word ironic itself. Because the lyrics give the entirely incorrect definition of the word the whole song itself does actually become ironic. In that respect I may be giving Alanis more credit that she deserves but who am I to judge. I just hang out with too many arts students.
