I thought it was just me getting older and progressively less satisfied with Apple's focus on phones and tablets. A while back I was a big promoter of desktop Macs, but it's obviously not a priority for them anymore. Why does software update keep pushing iTunes updates on me? Why do I have to keep disabling things to get my Mac to run better (Spotlight, gamed) for crap I never asked for? If I don't want to use iCloud, stop bugging me about it! The whole reason I went with OSX originally was because I didn't want to tinker with the OS unless I felt like it.

An agnostic may care deeply about whether god exists but just feels there is not enough evidence to decide either way. If you think there is roughly a 50/50 chance of god existing or not, you're agnostic. If you think there is a vanishingly small chance of god existing, you're an atheist.

I'm an atheist and I don't care if people want to practice their religion. It's when they want me to take part in it too, then I get annoyed.

Slashdot's Disagree Mail 100

Ernest Hemingway's micro-story, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn," is one of my favorite examples of how less is sometimes more. Sometimes a few sentences say it all; you don't always need a hundred pages to convey an idea. Most of the mail I get is brief and to the point. Others are just brief. To be honest, I appreciate the short, crazy email more than the long rants, and they can be just as funny. Read below for this week's mail snippets.

Submission + - Citizens Given Video Cameras to Monitor Police (foxnews.com)

atommota writes: After years of complaints of police misconduct, some residents of high-crime neighborhoods in St. Louis are being given free video cameras to help them monitor officers. The American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri launched the project Wednesday after television crews last year broadcast video of officers punching and kicking a suspect who led police on a car chase. "The idea here is to level the playing field, so it's not just your word against the police's word," said Brenda Jones, executive director of the ACLU chapter.
This is in stark contrast to a report out of PA (and seen on Slashdot), where someone was arrested for felony wiretapping for doing the same thing.
