Comment Australian system (Score 1) 637

I like what they have in Australia. Everyone places candidates in tiers, like 1st choice, 2nd an so on. If nobody agrees on a 1st choice but there is consensus on 2nd, then the 2nd choice wins. Or at least that's my understanding of it. Just leave compulsory voting out.

Submission + - Crypto Ransomware Attacks Jump 500% in Last Year

Trailrunner7 writes: There appears to be no end in sight to the ransomware epidemic. New stats released by security researchers at Kaspersky Lab show that the number of users who came across crypto ransomware in the last year increased by more than 500 percent over the previous year.

Data compiled by Kaspersky researchers from the company’s cloud network shows that from April 2015 to March 2016, the volume of crypto ransomware encountered by users leapt from 131,111 to 718,536. That’s a massive increase, especially considering the fact that ransomware is a somewhat mature threat. It didn’t just burst onto the scene a couple of years ago. Kaspersky’s researchers said the spike in crypto ransomware can be attributed to a small group of variants.

Comment I Love my 5.7 inch Note 3 but... (Score 1) 258

I can understand how most peoples sweet spot is just under 5 inches. I can hardly use my Note 3 one handed but it's ok since I do not use it while walking across streets or when I'm driving. The large screen size makes looking things up, viewing images/pdfs, navigating websites ect really comfortable on a device that can easily fit in my pocket, unlike a tablet. Obviously it's not a full replacement for a laptop, but it is 85% of the time for me. The only thing I hate about my phone is the locked bootloader, and stock software, but I can somewhat get around that.

Comment Blackberry/iphone with no data plan (Score 1) 294

I had some old dumb phone that drowned in a river. Someone I knew felt sorry for me and gave me her old blackberry 8110. before I put my sim card in I made sure that ATT had blocked all the data signals. now I can call and listen to MP3s and text on this keyboard which I personally find great. Also the rest of my family is cheap and my father and brother both have iphone 4 without the data since it is blocked on the family plan. they just use the wifi at home or anywhere else and use it as a camera/music playing phone with a great screen. (but they had to cut the sim card themselves which was a bit risky)
