Journal L-dawg's Journal: vocabulary lesson 5

I thought I'd just lay out some relevant terms. Reading over this, I realize that my use of the English language is horrible and embarrassing. But what can I say, I blame the educational system that produced me.

blog-deceit: a blogger is always free to make stuff up on their blog, deceiving the masses. Because what is the point of a blog but to make oneself look cool? So always read with a grain of salt.

blog-misinterpretation: an avid reader of a blog may feel that he/she knows how to interpret a blogger's vague and mysterious postings. However, due to the overwhelming vague and mysterious style of some bloggers, things may be misinterpreted. This is dangerous as miscommunication is a source of great unhappiness in the world.

blog-obsession: the need to check to see if a blog has been updated at a unneccessarily high frequency, e.g. once an hour. nothing to be ashamed about. I do it myself.

blog-neglect: a horrid impropriety is to neglect posting on one's blog for an extended period of time (2 days) with no explanation. may be an early sign of blog-abandonment (see below). also is a sure way to lose readers.

blog-regret: at times a blogger may post something that they felt strongly about at that moment, but then later changed their viewpoint. alas, the words were posted, and blog-followers have read. may lead to a blog-retraction.

blog-retraction: people (especially bloggers) are fickle and may later feel the exact opposite of a view they have posted in the past, leading to a desire to retract the post, although this is contrary to blogging ettiquette. The best way to deal with such a situation is to post a Comment to one's own post and clarify the matter. (Ex: "Sorry, I now hate X, ignore all of the previous compliments." Or, "I was drunk when I wrote this, nevermind.")

blog-abandonment: sometimes, (rare cases), a blogger may be cured of their narcissistic, whiny, self-centered need to write about themselves to the world, and they may actually abandon their blog, much to the dismay of hapless readers with nothing else to do with their time.

By the way, I'm noticing peoples' reactions to my haircut. (It's not like a buzz cut or anything, just definitely above the chin.) Most guys politely ignore or don't notice, most girls feel the need to say that they like it, and anyone who read about it here before they saw me says "it's not that bad!". Some people ask, "hey, did you get a haircut?" Like what am I supposed to say: No, I just woke up one morning and noticed that my hair had disappeared, like Samson and Delilah style. (pretty funny retelling of the story)

  • make that grain a boulder and you're set to read blogs. blog and blog-deceit are synonyms. if you blog, you might as well say you're engaging in blog-deceit.

blogs are all for a public persona and wordplay. they allow anyone to flex their semantic muscle. if one doesn't have the ability to express things in an interesting way he or she wouldn't be read. if their life were that interesting, would they really be sitting in front of a computer and writing about it? publishing tidbits and thoughts lends

    • What? Sitting in front of a computer and writing about life is just about the most exciting thing I can think of (besides going out and looking at rocks). Hater! And blog-neglecter!

Being mentioned in a blog is just about being in the right place at the right time and nothing else.

I would like to assert that I am one with my blog. All contents are the absolute, necessary, sufficient, exclusive, self-evident, objective truth.

      • there's no blog-regret at this terminal despite your nasty name calling. :-P, so there.

"being in the right place at the right time" is the very definition of fame.

i would like to refer you to your entry of Wednesday, Sept 17 [slashdot.org]. not crystal. besides i'm agnostic about blog deities, so you'll just have to deal with your world reinterpreted through a relativist reader's eyes.

  • i hadn't read about it and i'm a guy and i thought it looked great. i fall under none of those categories!
    • You are right, jojo, you defy categorization. But I always look great, no? I mean, I go through great lengths to make sure that I do. ;-p

You don't have to know how the computer works, just how to work the computer.

Working...
