Journal KshGoddess's Journal: The joy of merging music collections. 3
So, I created a smart playlist of stuff I don't normally listen to. I recognized my stuff, and then I got to something that Ben had. And normally, I'm not a country person (although I do like bluegrass and the OLD country, the my dog ran off with my wife country, because it's more REAL than the pop crap), but this song hit home.
It's called "Something That We Do" sung by Clint Black. The words that hit home were these:
Love isn't something that we have
It's something that we do.
Because it's the truth. Love isn't static, it's dynamic. It's something you work on. It's the little things that you do for each other, and the big things, too. Love is something that you do.
The song went on to say:
We help to make each other all that we can be
Though we can find our strength and inspiration independently.
Which is important. You should retain who you are, even though you're in love with someone. That's an important lesson to learn, and to keep.
I just thought I'd share my happy moment this morning.

I turns out we had about 100 duplicate CDs, including many that were core to both of us. We sold the dupes on Ebay in what we called "The Ritual of Total Commitment."

Oh, we had a couple dozen duplicates, but he was very country-leaning for a while, and I used to be more metal. Hard to imagine, I know.
I used to be very angry at everything.
Then I got over it.

My tastes in metal have shifted though. I like stuff that's more introspective than all out anger anymore, which means I now listen to a lot of stuff that's out of the mainstream. (Fates Warning, Dream Theater, etc) Metallica, for example, has gotten harder to listen to. I need to be under a tight deadline for an overly obnoxious customer to be angry enough to listen to it anymore
