Nothing is not zero for mathematicians. Zero can at least be evaluated, and have lots of mathematical properties. To mathematicians nothing is bottom. Bottom, however, is not nothing, as you wouldn't be able to evaluate it. Bottom is bottom. Nothing is bottom. :P
