The web site and the main package repository are not available through IPv6.

Slashdot is IPv4 only. The web site with the article reporting the IPv4 address exhaustion is IPv4 only.

More than any IPv4 exhaustion statistic, looking at how much content isn't accessible from an IPv6-only host tells you that the IPv4 internet is far from obsolete: https://ipv6.watch/

Amazon, DuckDuckGo, Ebay, Github, PayPal, Reddit, Slack, Ubuntu and Wordpress are all not reachable vie IPv6. Everyone will be behind 10 layers of NAT. The switch to IPv6 will never happen.

Yes, this is the end: https://ipv4.potaroo.net/plote...

From the same website, the remaining IPv4 addresses in the RIR pools (in units of /8s, i.e. times 16.7 million):

APNIC 0.1852 (3.1 million)
RIPE NCC: 0.0380 (0.6 million)
LACNIC: 0.0159 (0.3 million)
ARIN: 0.0002 (0.0 million)
AFRINIC: 0.2348 (3.9 million)

The regional internet registries (RIRs) are where the ISPs and hosters get their addresses. The RIRs got their addresses from ICANN, which ran out in 2011. There was a ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

If you found a new ISP in Europe today, you can only get 256 IPv4 addresses from RIPE (down from 1024, which has been the ration for quite a while). If you need more, you will have to buy or rent some from another ISP or hoster. IPv4 addresses currently go for roughly $20 per address and the supply is very limited. Of course this price is going to go up once new ISPs cannot get IPv4 addresses from RIPE at all.

Well, there's this in the FAQ: "Just how politely does Pwnagotchi deauth?" Just because it's cute doesn't mean you're not in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. It's not just passively wardriving. It disconnects (deauths) clients from their access points to record the handshake when they reconnect. That's where this device crosses the line even without any 3rd party plugins. You have been warned.

No, the color temperature does not describe the spectrum. It describes the tristimulus value of the light, i.e. how much the light stimulates the three different kinds of light receptors in the eye, by comparing the color to the color of a blackbody radiator at the given temperature. The same color temperature can be produced by very different spectra.

Comment Re:Hotter, not cooler (Score 3, Informative) 88

The color temperature is literally a temperature. It's how hot an ideal blackbody radiator would have to be to emit light of that color. Kelvin is a temperature scale: A difference of 1K is the same as a difference of 1 degree Celsius, but with absolute zero as the null point. Substract 273,15 from the temperature in K to get a temperature in Celsius. The filament in an incandescent bulb is heated to approximately 2700K-3000K, which is approximately 4400F-5000F.
