Beginning Aug. 28, the price of an Xbox 360 Elite console will drop by $100, now priced at just $299.99 estimated retail price (ERP) in the United States. On top of that, the Xbox 360 Pro console will now be priced at $249.99 (ERP), reflecting a price reduction of $50

The arcade version has also had a reduction, down to $199.99. It appears Microsoft has answered Sony's move to offer the PS3 Slim."

They blame piracy for their awful shovelware DS games not selling? Are they crazy? I think the market has just hit the limit of how many ANIMAL/ACTIVITY-z (like Catz,Babiez,etc) titles it can take.

While I've been strong armed into running XP on some of my machines for hardware/software compatibility, all of the older computers I have are running 2000. In my mind 2000 is simply the best version of Windows made, bar none, it's got a low footprint, runs on nearly anything at decent speeds and isn't all "macified" like XP/Vista are. I've looked at 2003 but it's intended server use makes it a little less desktop friendly especially on older hardware. What I would really like Microsoft to do is release some sort of basic FLP style version of Windows to consumers, it's not just businesses using older hardware, in my mind if the machine works it can be used for something. I have tried Linux in the past but it just didn't click, same with MacOS, theres just always been something about Windows that I like, something I don't quite feel with Vista.

Refund emails have already been sent out, and end-of game events have been happening since last week. From the Auto Assault Website: 'We are now in the final week of Auto Assault and to mark this occasion on Friday night we'll be doing all sorts of nutty things in-game — whatever you request, we'll try to make happen. Most of the fun will be in and around Ground Zero (don't worry if you don't have a high-level character, we'll boost you), but we'll be doing other stuff all around the game. We plan on starting around 9PM CDT (if not before) and should last right to midnight when the servers are shut down for the final time.'"

An anonymous reader writes "Computerworld reports that Google is racing to head off a media industry backlash over its video Web site YouTube and will soon offer antipiracy technologies to help all copyright holders thwart unauthorized video sharing. But YouTube has also said that the process of identifying copyrighted material is not automated and will require the cooperation of media company partners."
