But in my experience, the BDSM scene is very big on consent and thinks and discusses it much more than vanilla people tend to do. And yes, of course I know that there have been, for example, some weird sex-cult style things going on that also used a "Gor" background, but the simple fact remains that most Goreans are not like that. Same thing as with religion, for example. Bad apples exist, yes, but most religious people aren't them.

And yes, what you say - evaluating everyone carefully - is actually what is done or at least suggested in BDSM: Vetting, covering, etc.

Is it intended to protect gay people? Or children? And of course, the original question was about harming others, so tell me where children are harmed by the age-of-consent?

By voting for Proposition 8 they are doing more than just believing something. They are acting on it and that makes all the difference. If someone believes women are natually submissive, but only ever acts on it with his consenting partner, that's totally ok. Hey, if someone believes that being gay is bad but the only thing he does because of it is not having sex with other men, then that's totally ok, too. And yes, IF you act on it you may have your reasons, but then you cannot complain that other people act on their reasons for believing YOU being bad. By acting, you are leaving the terrority of just believing something, but actually doing something. And taking away visitation rights, etc. from a partner just because the partner doesn't have the correct gender, is simply harming people. As long as you only believe that being gay is wrong or that gay people should not marry, noone should be able to fire you for it, for example if they encountered your diary. But as soon as you act on it, you have crossed the line and became involved. And of course we know, that the whole "It's for the children" is a sham, since a) there is no talk of restricting advantages of marriage for couples who produce at least one child (so, for example, older people can still marry despite not being able to produce children) and b) no actual evidence indicates that children raised by homosexual couples are somehow disadvantaged.

While this is actually an interesting point, I see one difference: Voting for Prop8 would actually lead to people suffering. It's something that objectively makes life harder for some people. Roleplaying some fantasy BDSM in your bedroom (or wherevere you want) with other consenting adults WITHOUT ever treating someone outside differently for it does not make life harder for anyone and does not lead to someone suffering (at least not someone who doesn't want that). So, since there was no accusation of him actually treating women worse or forcing himself onto them because of his sexual preferences, the comparison to Prop8 voters is (imho) not quite correct: Nobody was ever harmed by his private bedroom games.

That's bullshit. For most Goreans, it's just another background for their personal BDSM play. And there are many kinks that might be politically uncorrect, but nobody should care as long as they are done by consenting adults. Since I'm active in the BDSM scene, I know many people and almost none of them believe that their personal relationship model preference should somehow be forced upon everyone else.

You are confused. I did not intend to make a point for or against the wage gap. I just noticed what your choice of sources said about you. I have nothing to lose here, since I simply do not play without having a good understanding of a situation. Would be even faster if you intialized the StringBuilder with the numIter. Hard to measure, though, had to go up to 10 million 1 byte strings to actually see a difference ;-)

While it is nice to point out that the code sucks, they do already know that. They mention StringBuilder on page 6, for example. No problem there. But of course, in the end, the paper has nothing to do with disk vs. memory. It's about comparing one O(n^2) algorithm to an O(n) algorithm and determine that one of them is quicker. The problem is, that it has nothing to do with where you save your data. The basic point, that bad code makes stuff slow is true, but, if you ask me, told quite confusingly.
