Comment Win7 + VirtualBox possibly dual boot to Linux (Score 1) 434

I love Windows 7 and VirtualBox, but I had to leave some old hardware behind when I previously moved to Vista.

There is a big difference between supporting 1 or 2 home computers and THOUSANDS of computers at work.

For most non-technical home users, espeically people that can't handle upgrading windows, I tell them to just keep using their same O/S until they need to buy a new computer, then buy it with Windows 7.

Because of EOL issues, it would be better to start a transition to a newer O/S like Windows 7 and install VirtualBox on each one. For applications that are very picky about the O/S, then create a VirtualBox image for each one and distribute to users as required until newer versions of the software are released or purchased. You will need computers extra ram and large hard drives, but it is getting to the point these days that almost every computer have lots of RAM and big hard drives. An alternate approach might for each computer be a dual boot of (Windows 7 + VirtualBox) or Linux.

The internet KILLED religion!

#1 - Churches no longer have total control over a small local population. A church or religion can't muffle the entire internet. They can't track the entire internet. They can't threaten the entire internet.

#2 - All types of information can flow anywhere in the world in a split second. You can question your own religion or read about issues that your church is hiding from you. You can learn about other religions and other views of your religion.

#3 - If you use a handle or alias, then you can say anything you want on the internet and not worry about the church or its members causing you personal problems or harm. You can easily find other people that share your views and not be worried that your church / family / work find out about it.

#4 - Mountains of information is available to debunk your church and religion, thus atheism is growing fast!

The worst thing managers can do is NOT ask their employees what works best for them. Every person is a little different, so what works great for one person might not for someone else. Some people have very tough jobs and need privacy, but others are deadwood filling a seat so it doesnt' matter when they want. Managers need to tell them constraints, like the budget to do it, and how much time to do it.

People who don't do the work are the worst ones to decide what is best! There are many managers that do lots of moronic crap so they can put it on their resume as appearing they did something important....those are the worst aholes that you have around!
