Comment CMM, Requirements and Processes (Score 1) 117

Defining where you are going is a critical part of getting there. Knowing how fast you're moving toward a goal is critical to knowing when you will get there.

Anyone else been a part of a valley death march?

Anyone else gotten stuck in the middle of long-winded discussions of what a requirement _really_ meant in the last week of a year-long development project?

XP makes a good attempt at getting requirements defined and building incrementally towards a solution.

CMM represents all of the key software processes that might be important to your organization.

In my experience you have to tailor any development process to the skills and experience of the engineers; the scope and complexity of the project; and the clarity and understanding of the end goals.
